The GOP says YES to fear mongering and hate baiting. The target, along with the Mexicans, and American who look Mexican, Latino, whom the Party of No and their Tea Party allies are saying are running wild across the border, are Muslims, whom the GOP and many of their Tea Party pals, are saying are trying to impose their faith on America, replace American Constitutional law with Sharia Islamic Law, and mock us by building their mosques in places where they shouldn't.
The Party of No and its Tea Party supporters have hyped the so-called Mexican threat, also known as the illegal immigration problem, to the point of racism in its rawest form. Suggesting that the illegals are not only here to overwhelm American culture, and to steal our jobs, but some of them are here to kill us, the GOP is stirring up hate against Latinos and against Americans of Latino ancestry.
To score political points against the Democrats, the GOP falsely accuses the Obama Administration of treasonable negligence, and willfully allowing an open border. Although, the border control is not as tight as it could be, it is tighter now that it has ever been. " 'The border is safer now than it's ever been,' U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Lloyd Easterling told the Associated Press last month."
Like it is hyping the immigration issue into a Mexican threat, the GOP and its Tea Party allies are hyping the real threat to America from Bin Laden and his band of dangerous murderers and criminals into a Muslim threat against the United States, making little distinction, even to the point of grouping millions of American citizens into the group, whom the GOP sees as a threat to America, and inventing the phony issue that Muslims are plotting to replace our law with sharia law.
Clearly, the Constitution requires a separation of church and state, that means, temple and state, and yes, mosque and state too, and would prevent the imposition of any religious law on Americans. Members of the Party of No know this, but that don't stop them from stroking the flames of fear and hate, by using this phony threat to our freedom as a wedge to divide Americans, in the hope of gaining the Republicans votes by appealing to / whipping up the based instincts of its supporters.
GOP and Tea Party leaders are railing against a mosque that is proposed to be built two blocks from the World Trade Center. The GOP / Tea Party protest is supposedly to honor the Americans killed in the 911 attacks. The Party of No and its right-wing allies over look the fact that Muslims were killed in that attack too, and that there are millions of Americans who are Muslims. When the GOP was asked to support a bill that would help the heroes and victims of 911, the Party of No said NO!
GOP House members voted in a block to defeat the 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, a Democratic bill to provide much needed funds for medical treatment to rescue workers and residents of New York City, sickened by World Trade Center toxic dust and debris at ground zero.
And so the Party of No is becoming more and more a party of bigots.
Bigots drive wedges, bigots divide, bigots weaken America. America's unity is her strength. Those who rally to the bigots call do great harm to America. America is a country of many people from whom she draws strength. The question one should ask the GOP, the question one should ask any party of bigots, is: Which Americans will you bigots target next?
