I think that Michael Steele's tenure as the figurehead of the RNC, the Republican National Committee, may be coming to an end. What you hear from me is not joy, but true sadness. I think, Mr. Steele was the best GOP chairman that Democrats could have hoped to sit in that chair. But too much stupid stuff has happened on his watch, and I can hear that Republican mob getting the boot ready, as they prepare to kick him out the door. The latest stupid thing is this: Almost two thousand American dollars ($1,946.25) were spent by the GOP at a sex club, the Voyeur West Hollywood,!!! A "bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex." Voyeur is an exclusive, expensive club frequented by celebrities, for example by Heidi Klum! For crying out loud! How can the head of a party of shameless hypocritical buffoons allow such a blatant thing to occur? Not only is the name "Voyeur" club an obvious place to be avoided, for any politician -- but a place where bondage scenes are enacted? Why go there? Now that's stupid! A regular straight sex orientated topless place would have been hard enough to explain to the GOP faithful. Well, a hooters, where the girls don't go topless would have been scandal enough for the so-call family values party. But Bondage? Oh, that's dumb.
Who broke this story? Mainstream media? No. The story first appeared in this morning's conservative newsletter for GOP types, The Daily Caller. I read the item. It begins yawn-yawn enough, telling us what we already know about Mr. Steele, that he likes to live large, to sit high on the hog -- "According to two knowledgeable sources, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele once raised the possibility of using party money to buy a private jet for his travel. 'I know that … regular ongoing use of planes was something that was looked at,' says one person with direct knowledge. 'I can’t speak to how serious those inquiries were.' Both sources say Steele considered purchasing a plane outright, or buying fractional ownership in one, through a company such as NetJets. Steele’s spokesman, Doug Heye, did not deny that such discussions took place, responding that the RNC never had a 'plan' to buy a plane. “I don’t know what somebody might have discussed or might not have discussed.' While Steele has not purchased a plane, he continues to charter them. According to federal disclosure records, the RNC spent $17,514 on private aircraft in the month of February alone (as well as $12,691 on limousines during the same period). Once on the ground, FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex. RNC trips to other cities produced bills from a long list of chic and costly hotels such as the Venetian and the M Resort in Las Vegas, and the W (for a total of $19,443) in Washington. A midwinter trip to Hawaii cost the RNC $43,828, not including airfare..."
Yes inside the yawn-yawn item the dynamite gets mentioned. The "Voyeur "Hollywood West? gets a mention, like the Daily Caller planted a bomb set to explode.
An a series of mental explosions the secondary mentioned item set off in heads all over town. "Bondage?" Sex club -- charged on the family values party, of hypocritical excess, charge cards!!!
The RNC responded with a statement: Claiming that they know nothing about the charges. Although the charges were reported on Federal Elections Committee report by some body at the RNC. The RNC said " We are investigating the expenditure in question. The story willfully and erroneously suggests that the expenditure in question was one belonging to the Chairman. This was a reimbursement made to a non-committee staffer. The Chairman was never at the location in question, he had no knowledge of the expenditure, nor does he find the use of committee funds at such a location at all acceptable. Good reporting would make that distinction crystal clear. The committee has requested that the monies be returned to the committee and that the story be corrected so that it is accurate."
Well didn't RNC monies go to a sex club? The expenditure appeared on RNC credit cards and was reported to the FEC? Who do that truth challenged crowd at the RNC think they are fooling?
