Senior Republican Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma is no fan of Newt Gingrich, the former House speaker and self-promoted candidate for the GOP nomination for President in 2012. In fact, the right-wing conservative senator talks about the Newt like one would about a terrorist.
Politico reports, Senator Coburn "told a town hall this weekend that he would, under no circumstances, support the former speaker's candidacy. Coburn specifically cited Gingrich's three marriages as evidence of his lack of character and commitment to GOP values. 'His life indicates he does not have a commitment to the character traits necessary to be a great president.'"
Of course I could cite a whole list of reasons why the Newt is not suited to be Pres.
As for the senator's reasons? Who am I do disagree with the senator on this issue? Prior to his election to the Senate in 2000, Mr Coburn served in the House while the Newt was the Republican leader and House speaker, so he knows the man up close to make the assessment personal. To emphasize the point that he doesn't want to see a President Newt, not ever, Mr. Coburn said of the Newt, "He's the last person I'd vote for for president of the United States.'
The Newt has as much chance of being elected President as does Paris Hilton. Ms. Hilton is wise enough not to waste her time trying.
