Reagan Would Be Too Liberal for the GOP-Tea Party
Check out of video clip of Cenk Uygur (host of The Young Turks) filling in for Dylan Ratigan on MSNBC, comparing Ronald Reagan's politics and actions to today's political climate. Giving specific examples, Cenk explains of how that great conservative icon Ronald Reagan would be viewed as a liberal today, because the political spectrum has shifted so far rightward. See the video.
I agree with Cenk. Mr. Reagan would be considered an unredeemable radical to Tea Partiers. He would have been among the first of the elected Republicans to be purged. He would have lost his primary, been denounced as anti-Constitutional, anti-American, and mocked.
Darn, to certain Tea Partiers Mr. Reagan would be considered so socialist that he would be practically a communist. Can you imagine what Sarah Palin, Sharron Angle would say about Reagan, if he ran for or held office today? Rand Paul? Joe Miller? The Tea Partiers would talk about him like a dog. Newt Gingrich has shifted so far to the fringe that he is in the loony bin. He would be just railing and railing against Reagan. John McCain, who have become a right-wing nut, would denounce Reagan on a daily basis.
If Mr. Reagan was around, running for office, and if he switched parties to run as a Democrat, Cenk doesn't see Reagan getting much help or a welcome. Reagan would be considered too far out there and exposed. On certain issues Reagan would be deemed too liberal even for key Democrats! Again, see the video. Interesting video.
